Best Friends Animal Society (or BFAS as
I will now refer to them as) came to be by a group of friends on the
1980's in a town called Kanab, Utah. It was their goal to have a
place where animals in need could come and take sanctuary with them
until he or she could find a forever home. To this day, BFAS owns
3,700 acres and leases another 17,000 acres in Utah which is home to
approximately 1,700 animals at any given time. Moreover, about
30,000 people visit the BFAS each year!
The ultimate goal of BFAS is to
implement Spay/Neuter and TNR (trap/neuter/return of feral cats)
programs to help educate the public and provide the tools necessary
to help create a world where there are no more homeless pets.
BFAS has headquarters in Kanab, UT, but
they are also located in Los Angeles, CA, and area in dire need of
their help. In 2012 BFAS opened the Best Friends Animal Society
Adoption and Spay/Neuter Clinic in the city of Mission Hills.
Furthermore, not even TWO DAYS AGO BFAS opened the NKLA pet adoption
center in West Los Angeles! Hundreds of thousands of homeless pets
in the Los Angeles have already been given another chance at life and
thousands more will have that chance in the future!
Stay tuned to learn more about these
programs!
